  1. About a week ago I attended a Brown Bag discussion about wellness in our schools. I was pleased with the open discussion, but disappointed with the community turn out- - only three parents attend. Both Howard Colter and Danielle Buldoc led the discussion on behalf of the district.

I am VERY pleased to see dialogue opening. Let's take this opportunity (next one is this coming Saturday) to express our concerns.

  2. It is great to see that they are doing this, but why all Saturdays? This prohibits those who have children in sports. Why not one month a night, another a morning, another a Saturday?

I also think I personally will not attend as I don't want to waste what time I do have with Howard Colter.

  4. In addition to the Saturday events, the district will hold regular brown bag (12:30PM) lunch discussions. I just got the information about upcoming topics and will post on the blog.

I think we need to take every opportunity to express concerns. I am happy to see that these forums are available.

  5. Someone should ask them why they killed the Strategic Plan.

  6. Enjoyed our discussion this morning with the administration. It focused heavily on our district's philosophy of Differentiated Instruction (DI). I'd like to hear more about the pros and cons of this approach, especially as it relates to making sure all children are adequately challenged academically. It was a very interesting and thought provoking conversation. Thanks to everyone involved in organizing!!

  7. Laura - I agree that the meeting was really enlightening. The D.I. discussion is fascinating and makes me want to learn more about measurements and benchmarks for success. Let's try to get more folks to attend these discussions. I think that the more who attend and share diverse views, the better.

  8. the STrategic Plan committee turned into a joke. They are months overdue and the documentation that came out of it is as good as the roll of CHarmin on my bathroom shelf.

Colossal waste of time, money and everyone's effort.
