Praise for ORHS Drama Program

Below is a letter I just submitted to our District praising the ORHS Drama Program.

Dear Ms. Rogers, Mr. Colter and ORCSD Board Members:

This past Friday I had the pleasure of attending the Oyster River High School (ORHS) Murder Mystery Dinner. It was a fun evening shared among Oyster River students, parents and community members.

Throughout the evening's performance, the ORHS actors displayed great enthusiasm and talent. Truly, the ORHS drama program is something special and the drama teacher should be credited for her excellent work. I hope the ORHS theater arts program will continue to flourish in subsequent years.

As I have mentioned in previous letters, fine arts, music and drama are all vital components in our children's education. I was happy to see, first hand, the positive impact of the dramatic arts at ORHS.

Sincerely,

Megan Turnbull

Residents Needed for Strategic Plan!!!

The Oyster River School board has committed to the development of a District Strategic Plan by June 2010. An important next step will be to form a representative group of interested people to help shape and oversee this exciting work. If you are interested in representing the school community at large, and be considered as a candidate for this committee, we encourage you to:
  • Submit a brief letter of interest, including any special qualifications and experiences.
  • Also note any ties that you have to the school district (kids in school, volunteering, etc.)
  • Please note we are seeking a broad range of community members including those with and without past/current ties to the district.
Please email your interest to orcsdsb@orcsd.org

Strategic Plan Discussion Video...

OK. It has been a while since the last post. In the time since the elections, the biggest news to happen with ORCSD is that the board has approved to move forward with a strategic plan. However, the below video shows that the discussions around that can become unravelled very quickly. This recent meeting on May 20th shows a board member abruptly getting up and leaving in protest.

Would you vote for this person next year?
