Discussion to explore Open Government in New Hampshire

The following is a press release from the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications:

Manchester, N.H. -- In honor of Sunshine Week (March 11- 17), come and learn more about your right to know what your government is up to.

Very few times in your life will you receive free legal advice, but March 14 is one opportunity to hear from a top right-to-know attorney about your legal rights, free of charge. Gregory V. Sullivan of Malloy & Sullivan will present an overview of public records and open meetings law in New Hampshire.

Also at the event to discuss the importance of these laws will be Jeffery Strelzin, Senior Assistant Attorney General of New Hampshire and Homicide Unit Chief. Question and answer sessions will follow.

This event is being held at the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications, 749 E. Industrial Park Dr., Manchester, from 5 to 7pm and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The event is co-sponsored by New England First Amendment Coalition (a regional right-to-know organization), the New Hampshire Press Association and the Loeb School.

Sunshine Week is a national initiative begun in 2005 by the American Society of News Editors to educate the public about the importance of open government and the dangers of excessive and unnecessary secrecy.
