We really need a good principal, many of the good candidates have signed on elsewhere, but I spoke to my brotehr today and he confiremd that YES, Dr. Richard may still be available, he is talking with a school in Arizona, but would still consider a move to NH, that is his home state. www.timrichard.net
Donald- I took a look at Dr. Richard's website. I think the last thing this school community needs is a principal with their own website. To me it seems a little over the top and self centered.
Thanks Richard, I see how you might think that, but it would be worth interviewing this guy and not judging him as self centered or anything until you have spoken with him and talked to his references, etc. I know he has an excellent track record of school reform and turnaround. No maybe his specialty is not what is needed in Oyster River, but I think the district will be hard pressed to find a cadnidate as dynamic as Dr. Richard this late in the game.
Is that what this is all about??? Reforming & restructuring the school district. I remember hearing one of the new SB members discussing community learning & I have hear rumors about some people wanting to restructure. I had thought there would be open dialogue & discussion on this if so, not some back door way to get a principal & superintendant in with those views.
That is exactly the point. This was a failure because there was no dialogue and open discussion before the search was conducted.
The voices of students, staff and the community need to be heard in an open and public session so that the needs of all groups are identified and heard. We need to ensure buy-in and support before the process, not after the fact.
There is plenty of blame to go around but it started with an expedited search that did not follow a Board Regulation. Hopefully we can get it right and hire a high school principal that will get full support of our Board AND our community. Our kids deserve nothing less.
School board supporters have accused administrators of violating protocol in the search that resulted in Mr. Campbell's nomination. If process is in fact what's at issue, it seems a far more egregious violation to have individual community members soliciting and distributing potential candidates' information outside of any formal search procedure. This amounts to a Kangaroo process and I trust the Board will not tolerate it.
Out of fairness to Dr. Richard--should he ever choose to apply during a future search--advocates might consider working through official channels. Otherwise you will simply be wasting his time.
Hi Richard, my brother in AZ worked with him and that is how I learned about the things he has been part of and I got to hear him speak at a convention. He was also on a show, it was either Oprah or the View or one of those talking about school reform. I sent an email to the contact address on the site and if he replies with a resume I will be glad to share!

Donald- Because he has no resume on his website is there any chance you could contact him and show some background information?
