Thanks to all for their comments. At this juncture, I am not running for any office. Having said that, if there are any questions you would like to address, please feel free to contact me via e-mail, by phone, of drop over for a cup of coffee.

Mr. Kach. Thank you for taking the time to respond to this Blog. I have faith that you will listen to those you represent, and this note shows a strong commitment to the position of which you have been given.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Seriously??? We can really stop by for a cup of coffee?
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteDo you take cream and sugar? Yes, you really can stop by, although a call first would be appreciated.
Best,
Jim
Now that is a representative! Thank you again for stepping into the role as board member. You do not have an easy task and it is greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a wonderful gesture to have a board member respond on this blog. I do understand the hesitation of other board members, as this blog can often be the source of attacks hidden behind a sheild of Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteMuch of what has been stated within the context of this blog in regards to questions, and concerns are very valid. I encourage you Jim to read up, catch up, and enter your time of service with wide open ears, eyes and opinion.
Thank you, iteach
Mr. Kach, thank you for your post. My question is this: How do we get our questions answered? Is it possible to question board members or the superintendent at public comment time during board meetings?
ReplyDeletePeople take the time to write to the board, but while the correspondence is noted during board meetings, it is not read into the record and not responded to by the board.
We would like our questions answered in such a way that the answers are available to the most people possible.
If you and the board can help us with that, I think you'll find that most of the speculation and controversy will go away.
Dear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI have given you three ways to contact me directly. Be aware, however, that I have been on this board for only a few weeks and do not have all the answers. Don't be upset if you hear an "I don't know" in response to your question. Further, you have every right to have your questions,if not answered, at least heard.
I is also a little difficult to speak to an issue addressed by an anonymous poster. Lastly, we must all be aware of the confidentiality which would legally exclude some issues from public discussion.
Best,
Jim Kach
Jim,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting on this blog! It is very encouraging to see this. I know Krista Butts has also posted in the past so thanks to her as well!
If you would like to write an article at any time, please let me know.
Anonymous - I know that there are members of the public that are frustrated that there questions are not being answered. We have recently decided to create a Communications Committee, and while I am not on this committee, I am hopeful that they will come up with a way to respond to this age old complaint. It does get tricky because we cannot usually answer questions at public comments as they are asked and no one board member can speak for the board as a whole. I understand your frustration and several members of the board have voiced their concern that we need to come up with a way to respond to this need. Please know that we are working on it. Thank you for your patience and support of our district.
ReplyDeleteJust checked the site again and I'm still wanting to view the July 14th meeting footage. But...they seem to skip over July and go right to august now. I think that someone is preventing this meeting footage from being available on the district website. The community wants to see it! Please let us know why it's not up there. It jumps from June 16th footage to August 11th footage. WHERE IS JULY 14TH?? Seems convenient for some board members that this footage is not available since I hear that it is a great example of the true character of some. My guess is Colter blocked it from being released.
ReplyDeleteNo, I do not think it was purposely blocked. It was probably just an oversight. We can ask about it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Krista. It is nice to have someone attempting to explain things.
ReplyDeleteKrista and James, thank you for answering questions and paying attention. Krista you just showed how board members answering a basic question can stop assumptions and rumors. By allowing citizens to directly question board members, a lot of the unanswered questions that then turn to mis-trust can be stopped. If the board is really going to have a goal this year of developing respect, the only way to do this is to directly answer questions. Since citizens can not do this at board meetings, what are we left with? This blog seems to be the only outlet many of us have. The veil of secrecy needs to be pulled back and board members need to remember they represent the people that elected them. Part of this task is to answer our questions.
ReplyDeleteThank you Krista for doing just that.
The webcast for the July 14th meeting is now available on the website. A big thank you to Kathleen Young for her quick response!
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why this blog is helpful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Krista for being a representative that actually remembers to represent.
Can anyone tell us who is on the Communications Committee?
