Please click on this link to find the Town of Durham Resolution for the ORCSD requesting that the ORCSD School Board direct the ORCSD Administration to provide adequate documentation regarding the expenditure of surplus funds from the 2009 fiscal year.
As a Durham resident and taxpayer, I am ashamed and angry at the Town Council resolution. I find it hard to believe there is consensus for this and was particularly upset by the public comments directed at the ORCSD at the February 1, 2010 Council meeting. I was at the meeting and it was clear to me, as I saw Mr. Speidel and Mr. Brackett hovering in and out of the meeting, that there is likely much that is NOT transparent between the Town Council and at least one member of the School Board and his cronies!
ReplyDeleteEver wonder why people don't trust Kim Clark? Becuase her husband submits crap like this to the Durham Town Council.
ReplyDeleteDurham is represented on the school board. There is already an outlet for your concerns Mr. Clark. Perhaps you should speak to your school board members once in a while instead of using the Town Council for your petty political jabs.
I love that people assume Kim and Doug are the same person. Have you ever considered that she may not even agree with this? OR, that perhaps she sees the reason for it, but it is not HER call to tell a council member whether or not to submit something? These are assumptions I am making, similar to your assumption above that we can't trust someone who just spent years working for our district as a volunteer.
ReplyDeleteIt is amusing to me as a Mom in this district that I teach my child to trust others, but meanwhile the adults around them have such a lack of trust in others.
Kim served our district well, and has never offered any reason that I have seen not to be trusted. I worked with her as a volunteer at the PTO at Moharimet, and her ethics are stellar her intentions always for the kids.
Shame on you for attacking someone who dedicated so much time to our schools.
As far as Durham being represented by the school board, anyone who has watched people who try to get any information or answers from the school board knows this is a joke. Anyone who speaks up is called a troublemaker, stones are thrown, rumors are spread about intentions and character.
It is no wonder no one dares to sign their name here.
By the way if you REALLY read what the council is trying to do, it seems to me that they are simply asking for accountability and transparency.
They want to know what happened to a surplus of money. Money by the way could have been used to save some jobs, buy some computers, and help our overworked teachers.
This shouldn't have to come from the town, but when citizens have asked they have not received answers. Citizens then turn to another avenue, and in this case it is their town.
We should be open to the fact that a request for accountability has no agenda other than to get answers. Have you ever considered that maybe it is to try to stop the Roger's of the world from yelling at those that are working hard for our district? I am making assumptions and guesses as to intent, a dangerous game that many in our community seem to enjoy.
Cast a stone, but only if you know the absolute fact or intent. Assumptions are often wrong.
I would like to assume my school board and the council in Durham is looking out for all of us.
Just as I assume our teachers are there because they care about kids.
Ever wonder why no one wants to put their neck out to try to do what is right? Just read some of this Blog and it is easy to see, I for one am done with this Blog and its nastiness.
Lets start a rumor that Kim Clark wrote the resolution and made Doug submit it. Heck - I had to take the trash out Tuesday - we all answer to someone!
ReplyDeleteORSD Board is a joke - meeting, discussing, spending, activity does not mean progress.
That said - appreciate the Clark's take no prisoner attitude. Would be great for our other Durham board reps to speak up!!!! I could care less if everyone gets along. THe reality is costs are sky rocketing and no one can say the educational experience is getting better.
Too many beards in Durham!
Take your "take no prisoner attitude"and passion to Concord. PLEASE!!! Doesn't anyone see the regressiveness of the property taxes paying the largest share of funding for our schools?
ReplyDeletePosing - who's posing? (I prefer voguing). I would love to have my facts straight but ORSD keeps them from me. Please keep your name calling to yourself. No place on a public information board for this.
ReplyDelete- The moustache must go!
The post right above says "keep your name calling to yourself" and then calls the superintendent "moustache".
ReplyDeleteYou hypocrite! Oops, I'm not supposed to name call here.
Wait until you see what your property taxes are going to go up to now????? no limit to what the kids can borrow???? i have never heard anything so silly in all my life??? where does the money come from to pay for the food that is supplied to the kids that are not paying for it??? My son told me he has been buying food for his friends..I called the kitchen manager at his school and she told me that food service personel are not allowed to take anything away from any child...That is the most rediculous thing i have ever heard....lets all bring our children to walmart and first tell them they can have whatever they want....and then let walmart know that we will pay for these items at a later date.....yeah that just might work
ReplyDeleteHey last Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThat is a real nice thing to say to a child who gets no food at home for breakfast and only goes home to leftover Ramen noodles for dinner. Their only hearty meal comes from school. To top it all off, their parents are often embarassed to fill out the free and reduced lunch form because they don't want their friends and neighbors to know - AND IT IS NOT THE CHILD'S FAULT!
If you don't think these children live in the district, you are wrong.
supplying a lunch is one thing letting them have everything they want is another....if you dont mind paying the bills then i guess good for you....i struggle to pay for what my family needs and i by no means let my children have everything they want!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou are absolutly right..it is not the childs fault.....However, lets start making the parents accountable for their actions or non actions....I have to agree with anonymous by saying I certainly do not want nor can afford to pay for bills for school lunch that just keep growing and growing...there has to be a cutoff point somewhere...I dont have a choice as to how much of my tax bill goes to the school so I am forced to pay for these past due accounts as well...well you know what...i work hard for my money and there has got to be some accountablity somewhere...supplying a lunch yes...all the extras no way....i dont let my child get them because i cannot afford them and what i understand is that all the kids can get what ever they want without paying for it...how is that fair and im sorry if these parents are to embarrassed to fill out the appropriate forms...do what you have to do for the benefit of your child...and lets stop all the unnecessary charging so i can afford my bills while you sit and dont pay for yours or do what you need to to get some help.....dosent sound fair to me again for the working class american...i guess i should not be surprised....take accountablity for you and yours and let me do the same.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know what extras they are "taking"? You are using the writing of one "anonymous" person.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have an idea. Let's put something on the local blog to incite an "online riot" and spread rumours about things that I don't know are true.
Do assume anything folks. If you do, you make an "ASS" out of U and ME.
anonymous1, anonymous2, anonymous3,
ReplyDeleteThis site is useless without any personal accountability
i believe the statement is (dont) assume anything folks. If you do you make an ASS out of U and me... My 2 cent pickle boy...now whos an ass
